In Kenya there are hundreds of thousands of children who live and work in the streets, due to abandonment, mistreatment, lack of parental care or violation of their rights by the adults who are supposed to protect them.

Some of these children are rescued by Familia Ya Ufariji Children´s Home, which rescues street boys and provides them a place to call home, feel loved, where they can laugh, play, sleep and go to school, thus restoring their lost dignity.

Familia Ya Ufariji Children´s Home was started by the Consolata Missionaries in 1998. Its name is derived from two Swahili words, which means "Family of consolation". This explains our core mission.

The Home strives to comfort, nurture, educate and care for children who have been hurt by the same society that is supposed to protect them.

It intends to curb the increasing number of street children in Nairobi by providing them a comforting family environment for growth and hence become responsible and self-sufficient persons. 

The Home rescues, rehabilitates, reunites the street children with their families and helps them to resocialize in the society.

Together with the help and support of well-wishers, friends and volunteers, we build a better present and future for these children every day.

The institution is located in the Kamuthi area, Kasarani sub-county in Nairobi county, on the northern by pass between the Githurai 44 market and Kahawa west market, opposite Kamuthi Housing Cooperative society headquarters.
